The Vaccinations: Holiday in the Ville
by Zack Colleran

Three years ago, in the Somerville public school known as the
Healey, a band was being formed. Musicians were being made into
superstars, in just one classroom, and thus started the reign of The
Vaccinations. They have been a band for three years now, and have
played several decent gigs, including Somerville Rocks at the
Somerville High School and playing at the Art Gala at the Armory.
Now, they have found a gig better than any other they have ever
played. This gig is Holiday in the Ville at the Somerville Theater.
Says producer Tom Taylor, “I talked to the Somerville Public
Schools music director, and we wanted to highlight the young talent
in the public schools as well as the talent from the High School.”
This will be an event on the 26th of November, just after
Thanksgiving, and will run from four o'clock to seven o'clock PM.
There will also be Somerville’s own, the Go-Flo Casuals, to play at
the concert.
The Vaccinations weren’t always called the Vaccinations. The first
year that they played, they called themselves ‘Various Artists’. Then
there was an in-class poll the second year for a name, and it was
changed in the end to the Vaccinations. It currently consists of two
bassists, three guitarists, three pianists, six drummers (on snare
drum), several singers (it depends on the song), one sax player, and
one clarinet player. They have been preparing every week for this
concert, and will soon be ready.
